The short version
- App blocking runs on your iPhone through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) system. Truce cannot see which apps you block, when you open them, or how long you use them.
- Truce does not ask you to create a separate Truce account. Pairing uses the iCloud account already signed in on your device.
- Truce contains no analytics, telemetry, attribution, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- Your partner sees the first name you enter, your shared schedule, and accountability events such as joins, breaks, hall-pass activity, streak actions, and pairing changes.
What Truce can and cannot see
The apps you choose to block are represented by opaque tokens that never leave your device. Truce cannot read those tokens, so it does not know which apps you block, when you open them, or how long you use them. Neither can we.
Your partner can see the first name you enter, the shared schedule, and the accountability timeline. That timeline can include joins, kept or broken outcomes, hall-pass requests and decisions, resets or mends, schedule changes, and pairing changes. A partner cannot see app names, websites, categories, usage duration, your screen, or your content, and cannot add selections to your device.
What is stored, and where
On your device: your Screen Time selection tokens, local blocking state, settings, streak state, and a local copy of the accountability timeline. Screen Time selections are not uploaded by Truce.
In Apple's CloudKit: the first name you enter, the shared schedule, accountability events and timestamps, pairing state, and the minimum Pro-entitlement state needed to share Pro with your partner. Truce stores this content as encrypted CloudKit values inside a private share available only to the two accepted participants. CloudKit record type, server creation and modification times, and creator/modifier account identifiers remain service metadata rather than encrypted content fields. We do not operate a separate pairing server.
App Store privacy categories
For app functionality, Truce declares Name, User ID, Purchase History, Other User Content, and Product Interaction as data linked to the user. These categories cover the private iCloud share and paired-Pro entitlement described above. Truce does not use any of them for tracking, analytics, advertising, or marketing.
What we do not do
- No separate Truce account. No email address, phone number, contacts access, or in-app credentials.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs. No advertising. No data sales — there is nothing worth selling.
- No access to your Screen Time data, app usage, notifications, or contacts.
Payments
Truce Pro is billed by Apple through your App Store account. We never receive your payment card details. StoreKit provides purchase and entitlement state needed to unlock Pro. While paired, Truce shares a limited entitlement claim through the private iCloud share so one active Pro entitlement can cover both participants.
Deleting your data
Dissolving a truce (Settings → Dissolve Truce) clears local pairing data and starts removal of the shared CloudKit truce data. If the device is offline, Truce retries the next time it runs with network access. The other owner may retain private CloudKit data until their device processes the dissolve or hierarchy removal, and Apple may retain deleted data temporarily under its backup and service policies. You can revoke Screen Time permission in iOS Settings, and deleting the app removes its local app data. For help, email [email protected].
Children
Truce is intended for adults holding each other accountable. It is not a parental-control product and is not directed at children under 13.
Third parties
Truce relies only on Apple platform services — Screen Time (Family Controls), CloudKit for pairing, and StoreKit for purchases. There are no third-party analytics, advertising, or data-broker relationships.
This website
The public website may generate standard server logs for security and operations. Those logs are not linked to your Truce app data and are not used for advertising or tracking.
